There is a magical place, a natural oasis, immersed in the Monte Serra Park, in Viagrande, where you can learn many things about the wonderful world of butterflies. Children will be amazed and fascinated by their bright colors and their graceful flight. The Butterfly House in Monteserra, the only structure of its kind in Southern Italy, is a true “open-air museum”, where children with their families will find themselves immersed among over a hundred tropical butterflies in their natural habitat. Thanks to a dedicated guide they will also discover the “behind the scenes” and all the secrets of insect breeding.
Furthermore, once the visit is over, your guide will accompany you on an easy trek up to the crest of Monte Serra. Here the secrets of the territory will be revealed to you, and both children and adults will learn: how an adventitious crater is born, the various types of volcanic rock, the colonization of the lava by pioneer vegetation, the evolution over time of the plant landscape and anthropic. Once you reach the summit you can relax while admiring a magnificent panorama and conclude with a genuine and healthy picnic based on typical Etna products at km0.
